3 Selçuk Üniversitesi, Ziraat Fakültesi, Tarla Bitkileri Bölümü, Konya DOI : 10.21566/tarbitderg.283036 - This study was conducted to compare the effect on the performance of fat tailed Akkaraman and leaned tailed Anatolian Merino lambs and on pasture production between 2012 and 2013. The experiment was established as completely randomized block design with three replicates at the research fields of Bahri Dagdas International Agricultural research Institute in Konya. The total green biomass and dry matter production were 3637 kg/da and 904 kg/da, respectively. Over the 161 day grazing period, the daily liveweight gains of Akkaraman and Anatolian Merino lambs were 100 and 71 g/head/d, respectively. The results revealed that the effect of breeds on the productivity of pastures was insignificant (P>0.05), while Akkaraman lambs grew faster (P<0.001) than Anatolian Merino lambs.
