Effects of 10 LAB Inoculants Islolated and Selected from Turkey`s Flora on Fermentation Profile and Aerobic Stability of Corn Silage
2 Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam Üni., Fen Bilimleri Ens., Tarla Bitkileri Anabilim Dalı, Kahramanmaraş DOI : 10.21566/tarbitderg.282846 - Silage has now become the main component of the ruminant diet in many countries. Even though well preserved corn silage can deteriorate quickly and its hygiene quality can decrease easily when it is exposed to oxygen. It is well known that an aerobic degradation occur resulting large scale decreases in its feeding value, when the silo is opened for animal feeding or oxygen inputs in anyway. Researches about aerobic stability of silage in recent years have been especially focused on the microbial inoculants. Usage LAB which can reduce growth of other microbes deteriorating silage exposed on oxygen and which has high competition ability has been becoming a gradually important issue. In this study, potential of 10 LAB as microbial inoculants isolated from Turkey flora and selected as high lactic acid producer has been investigated Keywords : Lactic acid bacteria (LAB), microorganisms, corn silage, aerobic stability
