Comparing the Various Characters of the Selected Flax (Linum usitatissimum L.) Lines
2 Ankara Üniversitesi Ziraat Fakültesi Tarla Bitkileri Bölümü, Ankara - This study was carried out to evaluate the performance of the selected alternative flax lines in Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ankara, Turkey during 2002-2003. Selected 15 flax lines out of 215 obtained from abroad were used as plant materials. The experimental design was randomized complete block design with three replications and flax seeds were sown in both winter and spring as separate experiments.
Characters of spring sown plants were used for analyzing. According to; plant height were ranged from 48.6 - 63.1 cm, first branching height were from 29.7 - 44.1 cm, tillering were from 1.6 - 2.9 number, branch number per plant were from 29.0 - 45.5, number of capsule per plant were ranged from 23.97 - 37.45, number of seed per capsule were from 7.98 - 9.03, seed yield per plant were from 0.94 - 1.96 g, the capsule width were from 6.10 - 6.98 mm, the capsule height were from 6.49 - 8.03 mm, 1000 seeds weight were from 3.52 - 7.17 g.
According to results, flaxs were highly affected by the climatic conditions. The studies about this subject must be sustained.
