- The results of 14 experiments conducted in Northern Transitional Zones of Central AnatoIia to obtaln the optImum N rates for Gere 179 and Bezostaya-1 bread wheat varieties showed that increased N application resulted in statistically significant increases in grain ryields. However the effect of nitrogen differed among the locations.

N requirements for wheat varieties were predicted uSIng equations obtained under different precipitation leves at various growing periods of wheat varieties. Thus, 250 mm, 350 mm and 450 mm precipitation levels resulted in 8.6 kg/da, 12.6 kg/da and 15.1 kg/da economic N requirements for Gerek-79; 9.4 kg/da, 10.6 kg/da and 11.8 kg/da for Bezostaya-1, respectively.
