1 Tarla Bitkileri Merkez Araştırma Enstitüsü, Yenimahalle-Ankara - The main purpose of agricultural activities is to increase profitability. One of the most preferred methods for this goal is to increase productivity and quality. Chickpea, except for coastal areas in our country is grown as a spring crop. The yield of spring –grown plant is low because of drought condition in growing period. Winter-grown crops have more yields because of a better water regime. The aim of this study, in the highlands opportunities for winter-grown of chickpea are to identify. Trial is conducted between 1994 and 1996 in Haymana as a winter crop. In study, 2 check and 9 lines, totally 11 genotypes are used. The highest yield was 357 kg/da in AkN 454. Ascochyta blight and weed are main constrain whereas the yield in winter planting is more than spring planting. Keywords : Highland, winter chickpea, yield, Ascochyta blight
