EVALUATION OF THE MOST PROMISING SOUR-CHERRY CULTIVARS FOR CENTRAL ANATOLIA

1 Tarla Bitkileri Merkez Araş. Enst. ANKARA - The purpose of this study was to determine the pomological and technological characters of 87 sour cherry samples (Prunus cerasus L.) selected from Aegean, Central Anatolia, Black Sea and Marmara Regions.

Ten characteristics were considered, but seven were used in selecting the best sour-cherry types.

Yield, fruit juice content, juice colour, flavour, soluable solits/titrable acidity, fruit size and attractiveness were used to select the most promising sour cherry types for processing industry.

In the trial I, 8 samples viz. 1390, 1307, 1438, 1392, 1535, 1389, 1537, 1432, in the trial II, 11 samples viz. 1314, 1367, 1348, 1534, 1354, 1317, 1355, 1340, 1359, 1408, 1357 and in the trial III 6 samples, 1380, 1416, 1421, 1533, 0502, 1394, totaly 25 most promising sour-cherry types were determined as suitable ones for the technological purposes.
