- The study was conducted to determine germination and seedling growth of some bread wheat cultivars grown in Turkey under saline conditions. Four different salt concentrations (distilled water, 60 mM, 120 mM ve 180 mM NaCl) were used. After fifteen days from germination, shoot length, root length and dry matter per plant were measured. It was observed that increased NaCl levels caused decreasing on germination rate, shoot length and root length but increased dry mater per plant. It was suggested that Kutluk 94, Gerek 79 and İzgi 2001 cv. were superior in terms of seedling characters. Nurkent, Karahan 99 and Dağdaş 94 were superior in regard to germination rate.
