This research was carried out in Department of Field Crops, Faculty of Agriculture, Ankara University in 1998 year. Eser 87 chickpea variety, and 84 TH 25 FLIP and FLIP 90 173 C chickpea lines were taken to the experiment at four different sowing times (March 2, 10, 25 and April 13, 1998). According to obtained results, the highest seed yield (444.4 g/m') was obtained at the II. sowing time in Eser 87 variety although the lowest yield was (174.4 g/m') at the IV. sowing time in 84 TH 25 FLIP chickpea line. Grain yields at the fırst and second sowing times were higher than third and fourth sowing times. The higher 1000-kernel weight was obtained at the early sowing times in spite of there was no signifıcant differences among sowing times and lines. It can be recommended that, chickpea varieties which is resistant to Ascochyta blight (Ascochyt rabiei) should be sown as early as in spring depending on temperature and soil moisture content for Ankara conditions.
