The effects of treatments with varying seed moisture contents (7, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20%) on germination and emergence percentages of okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L. cv.Akköy) seeds were investigated. Treatments affected total germination emergence and root length positively providing seed moisture contenis of above 10%, the higher the moisture content, the lower the germination percentage, regardless of treatment period. When seed moisture content is higher than 16%, treated seeds showed lower germination percentages than control ones. There is linear relationship between seed moisture and germination percentages in treated seeds, When seed moisture is above 10%. Seed moisture content of 10% seemed an important level in order to get benefit of the treatment or avoid ageing. Supposedly, treatments helped to remove some innate dormancy which stimulates radicle to go through hard seed coat.
