1 Ankara Üniversitesi Ziraat Fakültesi Tarla Bitkileri Bölümü - This research was carried out at the Department of Field Crops Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ankara in 1992. The M2 plant seeds of large seeded faba bean line with accession number 75 TA 209, 1000 seed weight 1136 g and small seeded faba bean line with accession number 69 V2, 1000 seed weight 520 g provided from Ankara University, Faculty of Agriculture Department of Field Crops are used as the material. In the experiment large and small seeded faba bean lines were exposed to 0,1,2,4,6,8 krads and 0,4,6,8,10,14 krads gamma ray doses, in turn.

According to the results of the research, increase in the different gamma ray doses in large seeded faba bean line increase the number of days of emergence, number of plants at emergence and 1000 seed weight; decrase the number of days of flowering and maturing, fertile plant ratio, number of seeds per plant, seed yield, biological yield and harvest index; besides these no evidence differences in special features such as plant height, height of node where the pod fîrst tied and number of branches per plant occur. In small seeded faba bean line, features, increasing gamma ray doses increase the number of days of emergence, fertile plant ratio, number of branches per plant, biological yield, seed yield, harvest index and 1000 seed weight; decrase the number of plant at emergence, number of days of flowering and maturing, plant height, height of node where the pod fîrst tied; besides this no evidence difference in speciel feature like number of seeds per plant occur. Also in small seeded faba bean line, chlorophyll mutation increase due to the increase in the dose of applied gamma ray. Keywords : Faba bean, gamma rays, yield and yield components
