- This study was conducted to determine the effect of plant density on grain yield and yield compenents of corn grown as a second crop in Hatay ecological conditions. For this aim, 5 hybrid corn varieties (Cargill 6127, Decalp 626, Dracma, Pioneer 3394 and TTM 815) were cultivated at 6 plant density (5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 plant/m2) in the Field Crops Department at the University of M.K.U. in 1998. Statisticaly signifıcant differences were found among the investigated plant charecters and various corn varieties. While plant height, period of tassel flowering increased with increasing plant density, stem diameter, grain weight per ear decreased. Though different plant densities were determined for maximum grain yield of every cultivar, maximum grain yield was obtained from 7 plant/m2. Keywords : Maize, cultivar, plant density
