This research was carried out in Trakya region in 2014–2015 growing years at two locations with 25
genotypes in completely randomized blocks with four replications. Grain yield, some physiological and
agronomic characters were investigated. The results showed that difference among the genotypes grain
yield and some other investigated characters were significant (P<0.01). The mean grain yield of the
genotypes was 713.5 kg da-1, and the highest grain yield was obtained with 791.8 kg da-1 in TEA1971-
16 and 791.3 kg da-1 in TEA1619-4 genotypes. Hasat and Harman were the highest yielding cultivars.
Canopy temperature is an important physiological parameter that can be used in selection. The lowest
canopy temperature (18.63°C) was measured in TEA2330-25, the highest (21.33°C) in TEA1619-2 lines, at
GS41 plant growth stage. Biomass was measured at GS41 and GS65 growth stage. The highest biomass
(0.70) was determined in TEA2360-17 at GS41, and in TEA 2262-18 (0.72) at GS65 stage. A slightly positive
correlation was found between yield and peduncle length, and a negative correlation between yield and
plant height. These results showed that short plant height and long peduncle have advantage for yield
potential. There was a negative correlation between grain yield and number of days of tillage (r=-0,217) in
the study which shows that the highest grain yield was determined in early maturating genotypes. Biomass
was taken at two different growth stages. It was determined that there was a positive correlation between
yield and biomass at GS41 (r=0.344) and GS65 (r=0.388). The positive relationship between grain yield
and biomass in both periods has shown that biomass is an important physiological parameter in grain
yield. These results showed that physiological parameters were useful in genotypes for yield potential in
selection.
