¹ Dr. Güneydoğu Anadolu Tarımsal Arş. Enst. Md. Diyarbakır - This study was conducted in 1988-1991 in the Southeastern Anatolia Research Institute Agronomy Field in Diyarbakır under normal field conditions. To evaluate effects of different dates of sowing on yield and yield components rice, 6 registered cultivars and 1 local variety (Karacadağ), and 4 dates of sowing were used. It is concluded that the sowing on the 20 th April and 5 th May were more or less equally effective on the yield attributes and were significantly better than the 20 th May and 5 th June sowings. The sowing on the 20 th April or 5 th May ensured the optimum plant number, optimum number of panicles, and the higher number of full grains per panicle. As a results all of it, the sowing on the 20 th April and 5 th May gave the highest yield. Keywords : Rice; Southeastern Anatolia; sowing time; yield; variety of Karacadağ
