Yield and Some Characteristics of Forage Winter Pea Varieties Sown in Different Dates in Erzurum Conditions

- Forage pea (Pisum sativum ssp. arvense L.) is a valuable feed plant with good compatibility with Eastern Anatolia Region conditions. It is cultivated as a summary plant using local varieties in the region. The cultivation of this plant needs to be done in winter using registered varieties. For this reason, this research was carried out with the aim of determining the yield and winter damage rates and some characteristics of 5 forage pea varieties (Töre, Taşkent, Özkaynak, Ürünlü and Kirazlı) at 3 different sowing times (25 September, 5 October and 15 October) in Erzurum conditions. The study was established in randomized complete blocks as split-plot arrangement with three replications. According to the results of two years, varieties and sowing times had significant effects on yield and other characteristics in forage pea. Early planting increased the winter durability and plant height, extended the time of the flowering and maturity. The highest dry matter (882.6 kg/da) and seed yield (271.2 kg/da) were obtained from seeding on 25 September. The highest dry matter yield (942.6 kg/da) was determined in the Töre variety while the seed yield (297.1 kg/da) was determined in the Özkaynak variety.
